Early movies:
Outside traditional tamil markets like Malaysia , Singapore, It was Pokkiri which opened Vijay's market in his forte UK. Pokkiri during the opening weekend featured in UK Top 20 movie list.
Azhagiya Tamil Magan is his first £100K movie in UK. From then, almost all his movies has done 100K except 1 or 2.
Thupakki:
The game changer of Thalapathy Viiay Thupakki. Thupakki was one of the Historical BlockBusters of Tamil cinema in Overseas.
Thupakki collected $5M Overseas, which is a Phenomenal achievement for a Non Rajni movie. Vijay became the Second actor after Rajni to do $5M.
It opened new markets for him and consolidated his traditional markets like Malaysia, Singapore , UAE, UK and France.
No looking back from Thupakki for Vijay with respect to Overseas market.
He kept increasing his market overseas in each passing movie.
Kaththi:
Kaththi collected $6M Overseas. First non Rajni movie to do 6M in Overseas. Kaththi is Vijay's first $1M movie in North America.
Theri:
Theri Collected $7M in overseas. Only two non Rajni movies grossed $7M in overseas. They are I and Theri
Theri was then the highest opened Tamil movie in Australia , France , Norway.
Record Breaking Mersal:
Mersal collected $11M+ in Overseas which is a humoungous achievement. Mersal is Vijay's first $1M movie in USA alone. With Mersal, Vijay bested Rajni in few markets in Overseas like France, Europe, Srilanka.
Record Opening Sarkar:
Sarkar showed the power of Vijay's overseas pull with collecting around $7M+ in the Opening weekend. It did around $10M final gross with below average wom.
All Time Best Bigil:
Bigil was easily the peak of Thalapathy BO power. It did $13M total in Overseas with 8M+ in the Opening Weekend alone.
Bigil was the highest collection for Thalapathy in all locations except USA. Bigil is also Tamil Cinema's highest grosser in Malaysia, Norway, SL and France.
Bigil is tamil cinema's 3rd Highest grossing movie in Overseas after 2.0 and Kabali.
Master:
Master was India’s first big movie to be released in theaters post pandemic. It had limited release in USA and nil release in UK/Europe. But, wherever it released, had record collections.
Master was Vijay’s Highest Grosser in Australia , New Zealand , Singapore and Gulf.
It changed the fate of Tamil Cinema post Pandemic.
Varisu:
Varisu was one of least hyped Thalapathy Vijay movie probably due to the genre but the clash it had provided the buzz,
Varisu did very good business in all overseas territories esp UK, Europe and Malaysia.
It is Vijay’s Highest Grosser in UK, Norway and USA.
It is the third Thalapathy Vijay movie to do 10M in Overseas after Mersal , Bigil.
Record Breaking Leo:
Thalapathy and Lokesh combination’s Most Hyped Leo released last year in October.
Leo had a record breaking start with All Time Record Day1 in almost all Overseas territories
Leo also finished as Kollywood’s highest in UK, Europe, Gulf.
It was Vijay’s Highest in Overseas by a distance.
Upcoming GOAT:
GOAT is the Upcoming movie of Thalapathy directed by Venkat Prabhu.
Overseas rights are sold for record price and guaranteed to have record release.
